This is something my clients often say to me, they feel they cannot increase their prices because if they do they will no longer convert enquiries into bookings.
But there are many factors as to why you will be chosen and the price is actually low down on that list.
Often it’s the connection they have to you, do they like + know + trust what you offer? Are you solving a problem / need for example? How easy is it for them to book you, is it convenient or are there too many steps in your process?
I’m currently renovating my living room and as such am hiring numerous tradesmen. And its been an eye opener for sure. I don’t want the cheapest but I do want the person I trust. But because time is precious I’m also choosing those that make it easy for me to buy from them. If their only purpose is to get me on the telephone they lose the business. If however they answer my questions and build the trust first through email or DM’s I will happily hand over my money.
This is a common theme for me whether business or personal. A couple of years ago we went to Universal Studios in L.A during the peak summer months. I knew this would be crazy busy with long queues for rides. Now in our family, we love theme parks, its kind of our thing! So I weighed up do I want to chance the queues and only manage to go on a few OR do I upgrade ensuring we get to go on all prime rides with no queuing. This would mean an increase from the already expensive tickets rising to £1k. But doing so would “solve” the problem I had (in this instance its going on as many rides as possible) so the premium price was worth it.
Can you think back to a product or service you were happy to pay more for?
Take a moment to really think why. What is it that made it an easy decision?
And how can you replicate that in your business?
Are you solving a problem in your clients life? Are you making it easy for them to say yes?
It’s time to get that confidence in your numbers AND get paid your worth. You need to have profitable pricing in a business – do the figures work for you and your growth ? It’s ok that you love your career – it’s ok to love your clients – but for most of us we need to be paid for that love, this is a business after all.
