My “grown up” careers have been:
1) Travel agent / sales
2) TV Production assistant
3) Personal Assistant (CNBC)
4) Wedding Planner (Dream Occasions)
5) Wedding Industry trainer / mentor (UKAWP)
6) Creative Business Consultant + Energy Healer
Life changes, so why wouldn’t our careers?โฃ
I’m straddling between 2 careers right now although there are crossovers for sure. The UKAWP and Bernadette Chapman Consultancy, I have no desire to launch any additional careers although never say never!

One of the things I do with my clients is ensure their business brings them joy, to allow them the time to take stock and check in internally. Life is too short to be shackled to a job that you dread going to. In my 18 years training wedding planners I am always amazed at the journeys my students tell me, many corporate women have decided to honour their soul and move into the creative world instead. I’ve lost count of how many accountants, head teachers and lawyers I have trained and coached!

Because its ok to change direction
It’s ok to pivot , diversify or do something totally different

Deep down, you probably know that your business isn’t bringing you the joy or job satisfaction it once did. I made the hard decision to close my events business down last year. It was no longer lighting me up which was not fair to me or my clients.

I grieved the business and each time a past client called wanting to hire me I was oh so tempted to say yes because I’d always gotten so close to the families I helped. But if my heart wasn’t in it I owed my clients to pass them on to a UKAWP member instead. To someone that does still have the passion.

It’s one thing to leave the corporate world and launch your new business. But it can be even harder to let go of a business you’ve built especially when you’ve put so much work into it, hours and hours of passion growing it.โฃ

It’d be silly to let it go, right?โฃ

But take a moment to ask yourself:
1) Does the business still bring you joy?
2) Do you keep thinking about a new business idea?
3) Do you feel on the cusp of big change?

Maybe, just maybe NOW is your time to move into that new career?
