In my 18 years of business I have gone through recessions, turbulent times and challenges. But never have we seen anything similar to COVID19. And never could we have predicted a global health pandemic would affect weddings globally.
I would like to offer some support to YOU as a wedding business and offer some guidance on how you can reassure clients during COVID19. ย I believe that couples need to hear from you, they connected with you as a person so don’t let that relationship sour. ย Where possible I would like to encourage you to limit your media consumption, especially if after you are feeling negative and all doom and gloom. It is so important you concentrate on the positive, no matter how hard it is to do so. So instead of giving advice about handling COVID19, cancellations, postponements I am instead going to concentrate on your business during this time.
What could you do differently?
I believe in thinking outside the box. So what can you offer at this uncertain time? If you have dates this year that are now available post them on your website and perhaps offer aย late availability discount.
Videographers can youย offer a bonusย like live streaming to a closed facebook group for the wedding as an added extra to your normal package? Guests unable to come due to travel restrictions or health conditions could still experience the wedding.
Wedding Planners can you offer aย venue finding serviceย for clients transferring weddings from abroad to the UK?
Analyse your business / Work ON your business
If you are not normally on top of your cash flow then now is the time to do so. Review your projected revenue for this year and anticipated outgoings. Out of those weddings which ones might be at risk? Are there anyย outgoings you can reduce? Where can you cut back?
Remember this is just a blip, weddings will still happen in 2020 and for 2021/22. So stopping all marketing is not a smart move. Being unable to work at a wedding right now does not mean stopping promoting your business. This is also an ideal time to work ON your business. Work on that website rewrite, amend your SEO, upload blog posts, upload real weddings to your website and social media, start actively pinning. .ย
Coronavirus won’t last foreverย so spend time making your business even stronger for the future.
Diversify .. Extra Revenue Streams
Many entrepreneurs are constantly thinking of new business ideas. Do you have an idea that has been on hold? Perhaps you started a project but haven’t finished it? Use the time you have available to put this into action (assuming it can be done at home)
Increase your knowledge
Can you use this time to learn a new skill? Perhaps there is a course you meant to enrol on? Book a session with a coach or consultant to move forward with business plans? Read a book. Listen to some podcasts? What can you do during this time to improve your knowledge?
