Spring is a season of renewal—a time to shake off the winter blues, refresh our spaces, and make room for new beginnings. I love spring. In fact, I celebrate both my birthday and wedding anniversary in April, so maybe that’s part of the reason! But beyond personal celebrations, I see spring as the perfect opportunity to clear out clutter, both physically and mentally, to make space for abundance and success.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like things just aren’t moving in the direction you want, it may be time to declutter—physically, mentally, and strategically. Let’s dive into why decluttering is crucial and how you can spring clean your way to clarity, productivity, and success.

Why Decluttering Matters
Clutter—whether physical, mental, or emotional, drains energy and keeps you stuck. In both life and business, holding onto things that don’t serve a purpose can slow progress and cloud your vision.
By intentionally letting go of what is unnecessary, you can:
Create space for new opportunities and abundance
Reduce stress and mental overwhelm
Gain clarity and focus on what truly matters
Align your environment and business with your values
Clearing Space: A Fresh Start
Start by going from room to room, including your office, and be ruthless. Decluttering creates energy and opens up possibilities. Don’t be afraid to throw away, donate or sell. It is not enough to simply “tidy up”, the purpose is to clear space physically and mentally as well.
Redesigning my office is one of my goals this year and I cannot wait, the current layout and design no longer inspires me so it is time for a change. But until then I’ll concentrate on ensuring it is clear of clutter.
Questions to Ask Yourself While Decluttering
Does this item represent first-class or economy? Aim to create your own version of a first-class lifestyle. Years ago, I did an exercise when I was in a business mastermind programme — where I rated my life in every area—from my keyring to my underwear to my desk. It was eye-opening! (Inspired by Denise Duffield-Thomas: Decluttering Can Change Your Life)
Would I buy this item today? If yes, keep it. If not, donate or sell it.
Does this item still bring me joy? If yes, keep it. If not, let it go.
Don’t forget hidden clutter. Check pockets, purses, handbags, and drawers—you might even find some unexpected money! I certainly have over the years (cash in envelopes, pockets and drawers), I suspect I’ve found it all now. Last year I decluttered my filing cabinet and discovered an old pension I had forgotten about that was worth £12k transfer value.
Decluttering Your Office & Workspace
Where do you work from? Whether it’s a dedicated office, a desk in the corner, or the kitchen table, your workspace impacts your productivity. Ask yourself:
- How do I feel when I step into my work area? Inspired or drained?
- Does my space reflect my ambitions and creativity?
- What can I do to improve it? A fresh layout, new decor, or better organisation?
My Personal Goal: Redesigning my office this year! My current setup no longer inspires me, so it’s time for a change.
Spring Clean Your Commitments
Are you saying yes to things out of obligation rather than joy or purpose? Let go of commitments that drain your energy and don’t align with your goals. Prioritise activities that bring fulfilment and progress. Ask yourself:
- Does this event bring me joy, or does it make me anxious?
- Am I saying yes out of FOMO or guilt?
- Will this commitment help me grow?
A few years ago, I started being ruthless with commitments. I no longer say yes out of fear of offending someone. If it doesn’t align, I say no. And it’s been life-changing!

Declutter Your Relationships
Evaluate the relationships in your life—both personal and professional. Are they supportive and inspiring, or do they bring negativity? Surround yourself with people who uplift you and let go of toxic connections that weigh you down.

Clear Your Mental Clutter
Overthinking and self-doubt can be just as cluttered as a messy desk. Set boundaries for your time, embrace mindfulness practices, and let go of limiting beliefs that keep you stuck in place. Your mindset is key to success. Take time to declutter negative thoughts that are holding you back.

Audit Your Finances
Go through your financials and audit them—what worked for you, and what was a waste? Ask yourself:
- Are you paying for subscriptions you’re not using?
- Have you invested in advertising that didn’t bring returns?
- Analyse your monthly spend in particular, what can be removed? Can you eliminate unnecessary expenses?
- Could you redirect those savings into an investment or salary increase?
By being intentional with your finances, you can eliminate money leaks and create more financial stability. Can this saving be paid to you each month as an increase in salary? Or will you invest this elsewhere?

Audit Your Marketing Strategy
Look at your social media, email lists, and promotional efforts. Are they effective? Remove what isn’t driving results and focus on strategies that align with your brand and goals.
📌 Tip: Use my 90-day planning document to review the past quarter and set clear goals for the next one. Assess what marketing strategies worked and which ones need to be refined or eliminated.
The Benefits of Letting Go
By clearing out what no longer serves you, you create space for growth, creativity, and success. Decluttering allows you to:
- Make better decisions with clarity and confidence
- Enhance focus on your goals and values
- Increase energy and motivation
- Cultivate an environment that fosters productivity and joy
This spring, embrace the power of decluttering—not just in your home, but in your life and business. Let go of what no longer aligns, and watch as new opportunities, clarity, and success begin to flow in.
